Pension liberation

The Pensions Regulator (tPR) has asked trustees to remind members who wish to make a transfer that it is unlikely that they will be able to take retirement benefits before age 55, except in very rare circumstances.  Pension liberation is a transfer of pension savings to an arrangement that claims to allow access to funds before the age of 55 which could result in the value of your pension fund being dramatically reduced as a result of charges and tax penalties.

The pension liberation fraud awareness leaflet provides more information on pension liberation including what to look out for and what you can do to avoid pension liberation fraud. You can access more information on the subject from the Pensions Regulator and HM Revenue and Customs websites.

If you are considering transferring your pension we recommend you seek independent financial advice to help you understand the impact to you and your benefits.
